Saturday 07 December 2024

Two registered nurses who work for a local care charity have been awarded the prestigious title of Queen's Nurse.

Ann Morgan and Justine Le Bon Bell from Family Nursing and Home Care received their awards at the Queen's Nursing Institute annual event at the end of last month.

The title of Queen's Nurse is available to individual nurses who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to patient care and nursing practice.

It is awarded by the Queen’s Nursing Institute – the oldest nursing organisation in the UK – and available to registered nurses with at least five years’ experience working in a community, primary care or social care setting.

They were presented with their Queen's Nurse badges and certificates by QNI Vice-President Professor Dame Elizabeth Anionwu DBE CBE.

In order to gain the qualification, the pair were required to provide evidence of their experience and skills, supported by patient and colleague references.

Ms Morgan said: ”It is a great honour to receive the Queen’s Nurse title and I am both delighted and excited.

"This isn’t just recognition of the standard and impact of my practice but about playing an important part in the future of community nursing.

"Family Nursing and Home Care certainly support me to achieve these aims with their commitment to excellence in care.”

Ms Le Bon Bell added: ”I am proud to have been recognised in this way.”
